Bridge to Freedom Productions proudly presents the world premiere of Some Sort of Saint, directed by TaRon Patton written by Linda Bright Clay and James Crumb.
Some Sort of Saint is a poignant Southside Chicago chronicle based on the extraordinary true story of Dr. Mica Battle, founder and Executive Director of the prison re-entry non-profit Bridge to Freedom. This powerful story will shed light on Dr. Battle's remarkable journey through the depths of the Flukey Stokes drug empire, heroin addiction and imprisonment.
-Auditions will be held at 928 W 38th Pl. Chicago, IL 60609 on Friday May 31 (2pm-7pm) and June 1 (10am-2pm)
-This is an all Black cast and the story is based on real people from the Kenwood, Hyde Park and Woodlawn neighborhoods in Chicago.

Character Breakdown:
Prison Mica (Track 1) - Black female, age 30-50
Mica (Track 2) - Black female, age 20-40
Young Mica (Track 3) - Black female, age 12-25
Chap (Track 4) - Black female, age 40-60
Chip (Track 5) - Black male, age 20-35
Jerry/Flukey (Track 6) - Black male, age 30-40
Puncho/White Shirt/Police Officer/Lil Willie/Guard (Track 7) - Black male, 20-30 (also understudies Track 5)
Joanne/Tammy/Nurse (Track 8) - Black female, age 25-40 (also understudies Track 1)
Ebony/Nana Rose (Track 9) - Black female, age 30-40 (also understudies Track 2)
Understudies:
Three understudies will be cast to cover various roles as needed.
Black female, age 20-40 Understudying Young Mica, Joanne/Tammy/Nurse

Bridge to Freedom Productions will be producing this play in collaboration with the DCASE Creative Place Grant.
We will conduct a script workshop on June 10 or 17 prior to rehearsal
Rehearsal- July 9-Aug 1 (4-5 days a week)
Performance Dates: First two weekends of August (specific dates TBD)
Location: Southside Chicago (Hyde Park)
This is a non-equity show
Pay Rate: $1250-$2000
Time Commitment: Approximately 100 hours or less
