Auditions held at Harold Washington Library on Saturday, June 1st from 10-2, Sunday June 2nd 1:20-3, and Monday June 3rd from 12-2. Additional time slots available on Monday. Callbacks will be held the week of June 3rd pending schedules. Will double as a table read.

Material to prepare: 1 minute lighthearted monologue in accordance to the role you are applying for. Sides will be provided for additional reading.

Mella - 20s, natural hair, deep complexion, athletic/slim thick build, charismatic and carefree

Jabari- 20s low cut hair, African American, athletic build, young minded, smart mouth

Zion - 20s African American, tall, debonair fashionable, preferably long hair, model-esque

Kwame- 20s African American, fun loving, charismatic, well groomed

Momma- 40s-50s African American, authentic African accent, preferably plump build

Daddy- 40s-50 African American, authentic African accent, tall ,strong/sturdy build,

Directed by Jasmine Roberts-Sawyer on her hiatus from her work on a network television show. This short takes us through the journey of change when we meet Jabari, a naive young man with all the wrong opinions of women, on his way to a gallery show. He meets Mella, a young artist. Fate sends them in a journey together where we explore family dynamics, courtship, and admiration.
