Description:
Oil Lamp Theater is seeking submissions for strong Actor/Singers for its productions of A Christmas Carol by Patrick Barlow. Jay Pastucha will direct. The show will run from November 21- December 29. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm (November 21-December 8) and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30pm, Wednesdays at 2pm and Saturdays at 3pm (December 11-December 29. There is one additional matinee at 2pm on Wednesday, December 4). There are no performances on Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or Christmas.
A Christmas Carol
In this retelling inspired by Charles Dickens' holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, production uses only five actors to bring some of Dickens' most beloved characters to life. This production is highly physical and requires age versatility, puppetry, an assortment of dialects, and varying levels of musical ability.
Specifically seeking a diverse cast of strong actor/singers:
Ebenezer Scrooge
40's-60's, Male. Sharp, detailed, and grounded. Quick as a spider one moment and powerfully still the next. Stoic till vulnerable. Highly humorous at times. Never a cartoon. A physical and imaginative take on a well known literary figure.
Actor One
20's-30's. Portrays Bob Crachit, Marley, Young/Little Scrooge, & various others. Cockney for select characters.
Actor Two
20's-30's. Portrays Fanny, Isabella, Ghost of Christmas Present & various others. Cockney & Irish for select characters.
Actor Three
30's-50's. Portrays Ghost of Christmas Past, Scrooge's mother, Mrs. Cratchit, & various others. Cockney for select characters. French is helpful but not necessary.
Actor Four
30's-50's. Portrays Frederick, Mr. Fezziwig, Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, Tiny Tim & various others. Cockney and Irish for select characters.
Auditions by appointment only will be on Tuesday, June 18 from 7:00-10:00pm. They will be held at the theater which is located at 1723 Glenview Road, Glenview, IL.
Callbacks are by invitation only and will be held on Monday, June 24 beginning at 7:00pm.
Compensation will be $1200.
Rehearsals will begin Monday, September 9 and are typically held from 7:00-10:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am-1:00pm until tech which begins on Saturday, November 16.
