Seeking actors with comic chops and text skill for our winter/spring TYA abridgment of SHORT SHAKESPEARE! A MIDSUMMER'S NIGHT DREAM. This is a 60-75 minute adaptation of the text for students. A desire to perform for younger audiences is essential. Each performance is followed by a mandatory Q & A with the audience.
Seeking adult actors of any gender, all races, ethnicities and abilities.
THESEUS/OBERON. M or NB. 30s, THESEUS is ruler of Athens. OBERON is the jealous fairy King
HIPPOLYTA/ TITANIA. F or NB. 30s
HELENA, HERMIA, DEMETRIUS, LYSANDER. Any gender, 20s. Four young lovers who run away into the Forest. Requires energy and comic ability.
EGEUS. 40s to 50s. Hermia's stern father who forbids her from marrying Lysander. Doubles as a mechanical.
PUCK. Any gender. 20s to 30s. A mischievous sprite who serves Oberon. Requires agility.
BOTTOM. 20s to 40s. A rude mechanical who sees himself (mistakenly) as knowledgeable about all things theatrical. Requires comic sense.
QUINCE, SNUG THE JOINER, STOUT THE TINKER, FLUTE THE BELLOWS MENDER, STARVELING THE TAILOR. 20s to 40s. Hard-handed men of Athens putting on a VERY amateur entertainment for the King's nuptils. May double as fairies of the forest.
Pay Rate: $725/wk AEA; $425/wk non-AEA outside understudies

Daytime rehearsals and daytime performances for school groups at Navy Pier. Public performance on Saturdays at 11 a.m.
