Character Breakdown
JONATHAN HARKER - (Male Presenting 30's-40's) A conscientious and hard-working young lawyer and deeply devoted to his fiance, Mina. Yet despite his deep integrity, Harker still experiences the temptations of seduction when approached by two vixens. After witnessing bizarre and disturbing occurrences in Dracula's Castle, something inside Harker breaks.
DRACULA - (Male Presenting 30's-50's) A Count from Transylvania. Handsome and charismatic, with a veneer of aristocratic charm. Dracula appears in two different states of being; first as a frail old man, and second as a stronger younger man.
MINA - (Female Presenting 20's-30's) Mina is the ultimate Victorian woman who stands as the model of domestic propriety. Even though she has a fiance, she never gives voice to anything resembling a sexual desire or impulse.
LUCY (Female Presenting 20's-30's) A paragon of virtue and innocence, qualities that draw not one but three suitors to her. In addition to her physical beauty that captivates each of her suitors, she displays a comfort and playfulness about her desirability. Lucy has bad dreams and becomes deeply concerned about her state of mind.
ABRAHAM VAN HELSING (Male Presenting 40's-60's) He would know more about obscure diseases than anyone in the world. He is a philosopher and metaphysician and the most advanced scientist of his day. He has an absolutely open mind, an iron nerve, a temper of ice, an indomitable resolution, and the kindliest and truest heart that beats.
DR. JOHN SEWARD (Male Presenting 30's-40's) Steward is a doctor and the head of a lunatic asylum. He has an obsession with one of the stranger patients and he falls in love with Lucy at first sight.
RENFIELD (Male Presenting 30's-50's) A patient at Seward's mental asylum. Variously a strong behemoth and a refined gentleman, Renfield indulges a habit of consuming living creatures - flies, spiders, birds, and so on - which he believes provide him with strength, vitality, and life force.
WAITERS, VIXENS, ATTENDANTS and MAIDS (Male and Female Presenting) Actors playing these roles will also be required to understudy a main character(s). Sent from my iPhone
Rehearsals will begin the end of August 2024 (Sun-Thurs Evenings). Tech week will be October 13-17. No rehearsal conflicts for tech week and performances will be accepted.
