Description:

On Monday, August 12th at 6 pm Lyric Opera will audition Child Supers for the Chicago premiere of Jeanine Tesori's Blue.

We will cast 1 child super to play the 4 year old son of a Black Police Officer in Harlem.

The boy appears briefly, running onto the stage. His mother chases him as he circles a few times. Finally, the singer playing his father picks him up and carries him offstage. The total appearance is about 2 minutes.

Candidates should be at least 6 years old. They should be smaller in stature in order to look younger. This is a non-singing, non-speaking role. Prior stage experience is helpful. The ability to follow and remember the director's staging is necessary. At the audition, the director will ask you to perform a short scene based on the above description.

Child supers are unpaid volunteers and may apply for an education grant from Lyric Opera to assist with expenses related to their participation in this opera. The grant award for this production is $250.00. A direct deposit for the total amount will be sent to the super's bank account approximately three weeks following the final performance.
