Taj Shotwell Productions, LLC and Harper and Harper Creative Productions are seeking actors, singers and dancers to cast the "World Premiere" of the award winning production, "Maggie Never Bitter, The Musical" by TAJ Shotwell. "Maggie Never Bitter" has won numerous awards, including, Oxford Script Awards (Screenplay) September 22, 2023 and Best Script Award - London, England July 31, 2023 - London.

Synopsis: Whimsical and modern version of Snow White. A young and loved teacher, Maggie, learns her father is dying, returns home, and becomes unexpected prey for her deranged stepmother. Maggie bantering with a basketball team, discovers true love. Falling victim to her mentally deranged stepmother's plots, Maggie struggles to follow her dying father's advice to be "'Never Bitter."

ROLE BREAKDOWN (This is a multicultural production):

MAGGIE BROWN, 28 -35 years old, ethnicity, black female, William Brown's daughter: She is a young, beautiful, humble, strong, affectionate and talented school teacher. (Sings: 4 Solos, 3 Duets, and 2 Trio)

WILLIAM BROWN aka Mr. B, 50+ years old, ethnicity, black male, Maggie's father is affectionately known as a successful business tycoon who is gentle and principled.

JENNIFER 45+ years old, ethnicity, white female, who has been married to Mr. B for five years. Jennifer is a formal supermodel and is Maggie's stepmother: delusional, spiteful, and vain woman. Jennifer hates the sight of Maggie. (Sings: 2 Solos)

PRISCILLA, 50+ years old, all ethnicities, female. Priscilla is a widow with a noticeable southern accent, loyal, maternal and gossipy. She loves the Brown family. (Sings: 1 solo, 2 Trios, and in Finale)

DOUGLASS, 29 - 35 years old, ethnicity, black male, a gentleman and Maggie's best friend, confidante and love interest whom she has known since childhood. Douglas is also Mr. B's attorney. (Sings: 1 Solo and 2 Duet)

BENNY, 21 years old, all ethnicities, male, a gofer, streetwise and loyal. He is Jennifer's driver whom she treats coldly. Yet, he adores the Brown family. (Sings and Dance Finale)

RITA, 40+ years old from Jamaica, female, the Brown family's live-in cook. She speaks loudly and is fearless. Rita is a psychic and tarot reader that also works for the police department in solving missing and murder cases. (Sings and Dance in Finale)

TAMMY, 20-years old, all ethnicities, female, is humorous and eager to please others. She is the maid who helps clean the 35,000-square-foot mansion that Mr. B intends to become a place for Maggie's school when she is ready. (Sings: 2 Trios and in Finale)

DUNKERS, They play exhibition games throughout the world (Basketball and acrobatic skills a plus, think Harlem Globetrotters style) The Dunkers sing 2 group songs, dance, and are in the Finale:

BONE, 40+ years old, all ethnicities and the team captain, is mature and assertive, clean-shaven, average build, plays shooting guard, and wears jersey # 2. SLIM, 35+ years old, all ethnicities and Bone's roommate, is very cautious and protective, tall and thin, plays center, and wears jersey # 5.

MONEY , 35+ years old, all ethnicities, is studious, analytical, average build, and he plays small forward and wears jersey # 3.

HICKS, 25+ years old, all ethnicities, is very emotional/sensitive, has a thick full figure, plays power forward, and wears jersey# 4.

SHORTY, 25+ years old, all ethnicities, is proud/egotistical, the shortest, and wears a cap, he plays point guard and wears jersey #1.
