Description:

Lyric Opera is searching for a Child Super to play the 4 year old son of a Black Police Officer in Harlem.

Candidates should be Black or African American, 5 to 6 years old and smaller in stature in order to look younger. This is a non-singing, non-speaking role. Prior stage experience is helpful, but not necessary. The child should be able to follow directions and perform consistently.

We ask you to provide a short video of the child showing the following:

The boy runs onto the stage carrying a small toy. His mother chases him as he circles a few times. Finally, the singer playing his father picks him up and carries him offstage.

The total appearance during the opera is about 2 minutes.

Child supers are unpaid volunteers and may apply for an education grant from Lyric Opera to assist with expenses related to their participation in this opera. The grant award for this production is $250.00. A direct deposit for the total amount will be sent to the super's bank account approximately three weeks following the final performance.

We will also hire one parent of the child as a chaperone to stay with the child when he is called to rehearsal and performances. The salary is $16.20 per hour.
