Project Title | The 2024 Alice Gerstenberg Play Festival |
Description:
In its second year, this festival celebrates the work of Alice Gerstenberg, an early 20th century playwright from Chicago and champion of the Little Theatre Movement. Last year, 3 of her works were presented in the living room of an early 20th century mansion to audiences over the course of 3 performances
This year, in a similar site specific setting, directors and actors will have one day to create theatrical pieces based on Gerstenberg's text in preparation for two evening performances. Creative teams may be faithful to the text, they may adapt, they may devise, etc. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided, but we unfortunately cannot offer pay at this time. All rehearsal and performances will be at Berger Park Cultural Center (6205 N Sheridan Road). Performances are free to the public.
