Seeking strong actors that are 18+ years of age. Local hires only (no housing or travel provided). We encourage Trans and Gender Non-Conforming performers to submit as genders listed as those of the character, not the performer. All actors must have been up to date on your Covid vaccinations before Sunday 10/20/24 for consideration
In Person Auditions will be on Monday, October 21, 6:30pm-9pm at BrightSide Theatre's Rehearsal Studio, 1989 University Lane, Unit D, Lisle, IL 60532.
Pay Rate: $150 Stipend
Casting Breakdown
Gabriel John Utterson/Ensemble (Male Presenting) Serves as Jekyll's lawyer and helpful friend. He advises the troubled doctor on personal and professional affairs.
Sir Danvers Carew/Ensemble(Male Presenting) Emma's loving father and Chairman of the Board of Governors. A charming and gentle man.
Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde(Male Presenting) Jekyll is a doctor obsessed with discovering the true nature behind the good and evil in man and Emma's fiancee. After he uses an experimental formula on himself, his evil side - Edward Hyde - takes control. As Hyde, he is violent, commanding, and a sexual attracted to Lucy.
Simon Stride (Male Presenting) The secretary of the Board of Governors and Jekyll's rival for Emma's affections.
Lady Beaconsfield/Ensemble(Female Presenting) Elitist member of the Board of Governors who does not approve of Dr. Jekyll in any way.
Bishop Of Basingstoke/Ensemble (Male Presenting) A hypocritical, sadistic man of the cloth and a member of the Board of Governors.
Lord Savage/Ensemble (Male Presenting) Member of the Board of Governor.
General Lord Glossop/Ensemble (Male Presenting) A pompous retired army man and member of the Board of Governors.
Sir Archibald Proops/Ensemble (Male Presenting) Member of the Board of Governors.
Emma Carew (Female Presenting) The daughter of Chairman Danvers and Jekyll's beloved fiancee who is refined and desired by all the socialite men.
Lucy Harris (Female Presenting) The gorgeous 'main attraction' at a local gentleman's club. At the bottom of her luck, she becomes the object of Hyde's obsession. Lucy is feisty and wild, but also cautious and aware.
Ensemble (Female Presenting) Aristocrats; Citizens; Servants; Party Guests; Prostitutes; Policemen
Principal Rehearsals (Jekyll/Hyde, Lucy and Emma) will begin early December and Full Company Rehearsals will begin January 5, 2025. Rehearsals will take place on Sunday through Thursday evenings. Not all cast is called to each rehearsal.
Tech/Final Dress is Thursday, January 16, 2025 No rehearsal conflicts will be accepted for Tech Week or any performances.
Performances
All performances will be at the Madden Theatre on the Campus of North Central College, 171 Chicago Avenue in Naperville. Opening 1/17/25; Closing 1/26/25 (Fri/Sat evenings at 7:30 pm, Sun matinees at 2pm and a Saturday matinee on 1/25 at 2pm- 7 performances total)
