Stage Coach Players invites you to audition for The Wizard of Oz, adapted by John Kane from the book by L. Frank Baum (and the classic motion picture) with Music and Lyrics by Harold Arlen & E. Y. Harburg. We're off to see the wizard! The beloved tale, in which a Kansas farm girl travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home, has entertained audiences for generations. This production will pay homage to the images from the 1939 classic film version while bringing in a new Steampunk vision for The Land of Oz.
Audition Dates:
Saturday, November 16 1:00-5:00 pm
Sunday, November 17 1:00-5:00 pm
Monday, November 18 6:00-8:00 pm

Seeking men and women, ranging in age from 8 - 80. Open Call.
All roles are open, and no appointment is necessary. Actors will be seen in order of arrival. We would like to see children (age 8-15) in the first hour of each audition time above [from 1:00-2:00 on Saturday & Sunday, from 6:00-7:00 on Monday]. Adults (16 years and older) may audition at any time but children will have priority within the first hour of auditions.
All ethnicities and genders welcome. Auditions will consist of singing, dancing and possibly readings. Headshot and resume are optional.
Adult Auditions (16 years and older)
SINGING - Please prepare 32 measures of a song from a Broadway musical. You must bring the printed accompaniment [sheet music] in the key you will be singing. An accompanist will be provided (but will not transpose music).
READING - 1) If you are auditioning for a singing role: You may be asked to read a scene from the script. 2) If you are auditioning for a non-singing role: You will be asked to read a scene involving the Wicked Witch, Professor Marvel or the Wizard of Oz.
DANCING - You will be taught a dance combination. Please wear clothes in which you can move.
Child Auditions (8 years through 15 years old)
SINGING - Please be prepared to sing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' (see music on website).
READING - You may be asked to read a scene from the script.

Directed by Steven Meerdink with Music Direction by Judy O'Connor. There is no pay. The production will be presented by Stage Coach Players at 126 S. Fifth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.

Initial Read-through: Sunday, January 5.
Rehearsals: Five rehearsals per week - Rehearsals will be Sunday, January 5 through Wednesday, February 26. A typical rehearsal week will be Sunday (3:00-6:00), Monday (6:30-9:30), Tuesday (6:30-9:30), Wednesday (6:30-9:30) and Thursday (6:30-9:30). The final 2 weeks of rehearsals will start at 6:00 and there will be a rehearsal on Friday, February 21.
Tech Week: Friday, February 21 - Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Performance Dates: The show runs February 27 - March 9, 2025. Evening performances on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 pm; Matinees on Sundays at 2:00 pm.
