Lifeline Theatre is seeking understudies for their current production, Kid Prince & Pablo, a modern, hip-hop retelling of The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain, created by Brian and Marvin Quijada, directed by Raquel Torre. This is a non-union production.
We are currently seeking understudies to cover the following tracks: Pablo- Male Identifying, 20s, BIPOC, Spanish Speaker. "Part-time drummer boy, daytime street performer, full-time sweetheart". Earnest and full of heart. Has a passion for reading and yearns to go to school. Lives with his mom, who he loves more than anything. Must be strong physical actor. Must play hand percussion and finger drums (please see video link for reference).
Lanhorne- Female Identifying, Any Age, Any Race, Spanish Speaker One of our three MCs of the show, telling this story with hype, wit, and charm. Langhorne also plays:
- Cecilia: Pablo's mother, full of love and worry for her son - Queen Olivia: Austere and somewhat condescending. Very sick.
- Francois: A premier MC, and one of the leaders of the rebellion.
Must be strong physical actor. MUST rap.
Understudy Pay:
$485 rehearsal stipend, $30 per show (when you go on)
Tech: December 18th, 2024 - January 2nd, 2025 (there will be breaks for the holidays)
Previews: January 3rd-12th, 2025
Opening Night: Monday, January 13th, 2025 @ 7pm
Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoons
Closing Performance: February 16th, 2025
Understudies are not required to attend all rehearsals, but are encouraged to attend as often as possible. Understudies must be present for all of tech, and be available for all performances during the run.
