The Outer Loop Theater Experience is casting for "Inner Enso Series: Third Production on Womanhood and Motherhood"

MISSION STATEMENT:
The Outer Loop's Inner Enso is an all-women circle of artistic decision-making with the mission of shifting the arts community toward balance. Too often, the woman's perspective is left out of the story, so we wanted to create a space solely made up of women to remedy that. The circle consists of 8 women who meet regularly throughout the year to create one production per season for the Inner Enso Series, which tells stories that center the experience of being a woman.

Description:
This season, the Inner Enso circle will devise a new production focused on womanhood and motherhood-whether you are a mother, never want to have kids, have struggled having kids etc. - exploring the complex pressures society places on women to reproduce, as well as the diverse ways in which motherhood is experienced. We aim to challenge the conventional narratives surrounding women and motherhood, shedding light on the struggles, triumphs, and everything in between. Our vision for this production is to delve into what it means to be a woman navigating societal expectations, personal desires, and the broader implications of motherhood, in all its unique forms.

Position Details:
We are currently seeking all women creatives (actors, writers/ playwrights, designers, and directors) to be part of this cycle's script development group, which will explore a rich and deeply personal theme. Our goal is to collaborate with individuals who are passionate about creating a show from the ground up, and storytelling that challenges societal norms and reflects the multifaceted experiences of womanhood. We welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of lived experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
This is a volunteer based position
We will meet once a week for an hour on a day that works best for the collective
We will meet in person in Chicago, IL
Commitment to the group is from January-December 2025. During this time period, we will collaborate as a group to develop an original script focused on the topic of women and motherhood
The Outer Loop will produce a full production of the script in Spring 2026 and we would love to include as many group members in the production process as possible, though this is not required or guaranteed

Passion for creating art that explores the intersection of gender, identity, and society.
For all roles, a commitment to the mission of the Inner Enso Series and an understanding of the unique power of telling women's stories.
