Invictus Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for A Winter's Tale directed by Charles Askenaizer. This is a non-union production.
CHARACTERS - All characters are open to any ethnicity or gender; the gender listed is representative of the character only:
Actor 1 Leontes (30's- early 40's) Male identifying. King of Sicilia who is driven to madness after deluding himself of his wife's infidelity with his best friend Polixenes.
Actor 2 Hermione/ Bohemian Ensemble- (30's-early 40's) Female identifying. Queen of Sicilia, wife to Leontes who is falsely accused of having an affair with Polixenes.
Actor 3 Polixenes- (30's- early 40's) Male identifying. King of Bohemia who is best friends with Leontes and falsely accused of having an affair with Hermione.
Actor 4 Perdita/Mamillius (20's) Female identifying. The children of Leontes and Hermione.
Actor 5 Camillo (30's-50's) Male identifying. A lord in service to Leontes who abandons Sicilia when commanded to murder Polixenes.
Actor 6 Paulina/ Bohemian Ensemble- (30's-50's) Female identifying. Wife of Antigonus and lady in the Sicilian court who speaks against Leontes' madness.
Actor 7 Antigonus/Bohemia Ensemble (40's-60's) Male identifying. Husband to Paulina who exits pursued by bear.
Actor 8 Emilia/Mopsa/Lord (20's-30's) Female identifying. Lady-in-waiting to Hermione.
Actor 9 Florizel/Officer/Jailer (20's) Male identifying. Son of Polixenes who is in love with Perdita against his father's wishes.
Actor 10 Autolycus/Lord/Musician (20's-50's) Male identifying. Must be able to sing and play a hand-held instrument (guitar, accordion, etc.) A rogue who cons innocents out of their money.
Actor 11- Shepherd/Lord (50+) Male identifying. Kindly old man who finds the infant Perdita and raises her as his own.
Actor 12- Clown/Lord (20's-40's) Male identifying. The bumbling son of the shepherd.
Actor 13- Lady 2/Lord/Servant/Dorcas (20's-40's) Female identifying. Musical instrument experience preferred.
Actor 14- Ensemble/ Officer/ Lord/Time (open age) Male identifying. Musical instrument experience preferred.
Actor 15- Ensemble/ Lady 3/ Shepherdess (open age) Female identifying. Musical instrument experience preferred.
Actor 16- Mariner/ Lord/ Bohemian Ensemble (20's-30's) Male identifying. Musical instrument experience preferred.

PAY: $700 for actors, $500 for understudies (no guaranteed performance; internal understudies may be utilized)
Rehearsals: February 1 - March 5 (Sat/Sun 10-4pm, MTW 6-10pm)
Understudy Rehearsals: March 1st 4-8pm, March 12th 6-10pm, March 19th 6-10pm, March 23rd 9-11:30am, March 30th 9-11:30am, April 6th 9-11:30am, April 13th 9-11:30am
Tech: March 7-10 (Fri./Mon 6-11pm, Sat/Sun 10-6pm)
Previews: March 11, 14-16 (Tues 7pm, Fri 7pm, Sat 1pm/7pm, Sun 1pm)
Opening: March 17 7pm
Run: March 21 - April 20 (Fri/Mon 7pm, Sat 1pm/7pm, Sun 1pm)
Please note there is a performance on Easter Sunday, April 20th.
Rehearsals and performances will take place at Windy City Playhouse, 3014 W Irving Park Rd. Chicago, IL 60618
Auditions will consist of reading sides from the script. Please prepare 1 minute of an uptempo folk song for anyone considered for the musician tracks.
