Summary
Charles Hayward is a former British spy who now works as a private investigator. His former lover, Sophia, hires him to find the murderer of his wealthy father, Aristides Leonides, who has been poisoned. Charles goes to her family’s mansion and meets an eccentric group of characters, all of whom could be the murderer. Here Charles is at dinner with the family, and is asked by the family matriarch how are murders like.
