Summary
Twin Peaks is about an FBI agent, Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), who is sent to the fictional town of Twin Peaks to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee), a popular and well liked high school student who is found mysteriously murdered in the first episode. Here we are in the second season. Two suspects have been apprehended but the police and the FBI are still looking for a mysterious third man who may have been involved in the crime.
The girl delivering this monologue is Donna Hayward (Lara Flynn Boyle), Laura Palmer's closest friend who becomes obsessed with finding out who killed Laura Palmer with the help of Laura's ex boyfriend James Hurley (James Marshall) and Laura's look alike cousin Madeleine (Sheryl Lee). Donna develops a romantic attachment with James but later James and Madeleine start getting closer and closer and Donna gets very upset and leaves James. She also meets Harold working as a volunteer on the program "Meals on Wheels", a program that had been started by Laura to help old or incapacitated people.
In this monologue Donna goes to Laura Palmer's grave and talks to her as she was in front of her. Donna asks about Harold, tells her about her and James, tells her she is afraid she will lose him to Madeleine and then flips out at her, blaming her for all her problems ("it's like they didn't bury you deep enough!")...

DONNA HAYWARD: (talking to Laura Palmer's grave) "Hi. (puts some flowers on her grave). This is from Harold Smith. Sorry I haven't been out to see you since the funeral but things have been pretty strange. So were you sleeping with this guy Harold or what? He seems pretty nice. Kind of an oddball. Although, I guess that anyone can start to seem like that when you look close enough....." |
