The Baltimore police department is after the Barksdale family who controls drug dealing empire. Avon Barksdale controls the trafficking and his nephew D'Angelo Barksdale is one of the dealers. The investigation into their organization is triggered by the acquittal of D'Angelo Barksdale for murder when a witness changes her story and Detective Jimmy McNulty meets with a judge to convince him it is case worth pursuing.
This monologue is delivered by D'Angelo Barksdale to his drug dealing kids at a park where they sell their drugs. One of the kids has just escaped from detention and provokes D'Angelo as he brags about him being able to leave so quickly. D'Angelo then tells them a story of a hit he did for his uncle. His uncle was having an affair with a young woman but that ended when she found out he had other women. When she threatened him that she was going to go to the police with the information she had about him, Avon Barksdale called his nephew and show him the place where she lived. He approached the house in the middle of the night, saw her naked, started tapping the window with his gun. When she approached the window....
D'Angelo doesn't finish his story but stops right when she steps up, looks where the tapping was coming from....

You little motherfuckers need to ask around. Yo, out near the county, right, on the high end of the Eastside? They got these apartments out there, right? So there was this little shorty who used to stay out there. She was, like....I mean, I ain't seen a female that fine since. I gotta say, Shorty was right. This was a shorty my uncle was messing with. They was going on at it for a little while....til she find out that my uncle got another little shorty round the way. More right to say he got a few of them around the way..know what I'm saying? So she goes off the hook, talking about calling the police....." |
