Christy Hengst’s artwork includes painting, sculpture and sculptural paintings, using primarily porcelain and beeswax. She has had solo shows in museums and galleries in the U.S., Germany, and Ecuador, and has also taught in those countries. In addition, Hengst has completed nine site-specific public art projects, often in collaboration with her husband, blacksmith Helmut Hillenkamp. The most recent is the traveling installation ‘birds in the park’, a flock of porcelain birds with serigraphed images and text exploring issues of humanity, landing in different public locations around the world.
