Summary
A lonely American woman, Jane Hudson (Katharine Hepburn), goes on vacation to Venice. There she meets a charming Italian antiques-shop owner Renato De Rossi (Rossano Brazzi) and has an affair with him.
In this scene Jane confronts Renato after she finds out he is married and has lied to her. He tells her that he is separated from his wife and, in a brilliant monologue, tells her that after all what she wanted was an affair and is behaving like a spoiled child. At the end of the scene they make up and he takes her out.

This scene is interesting for its range of emotions. Jane is at first upset, Renato gets angry at her for behaving like a spoiled schoolgirl and convinces he that he has not done anything wrong. They kiss, they make up and she reluctantly agrees to go out with him.
The dialogue is brilliant, is a good scene for older actors and if you want to practice an Italian accent. There is a very good monologue Renato delivers to tell her that he thinks that all she wanted after all was an affair and she should "enjoy living".
