Summary
The survivors of a plane crash are stranded in a mysterious, remote tropical island in the South Pacific. At first they have to deal with surviving but they soon realize there is much more than meets the eye. The island is populated by "The Others", people that have been living there for a long time under a mysterious program, the "Dharma Initiative". Their leader is Ben Linus (Michael Emerson).
In season 4 we find out that a shady millionare, Charles Widmore (Alan Dale), has hired a group of mercenaries to locate the island and eliminate Ben. When they do, in order to get to him, they kidnap his daughter and kill her. Some time later Ben sneaks in Charles Widmore's house at night and confronts him. He tells him he will pay for what he did and he is going to kill his daughter.

| INT. CHARLES WIDMORE'S HOUSE- NIGHT Ben walks in Charles Widmore's bedroom as he sleeps. BEN: "Wake up, Charles." CHARLES: "I wondered when you were going to show up. (Pause) I see you've been getting more sun." BEN: "Iraq is lovely this time of year. (Pause). When did you start sleeping with a bottle of Scotch by the bed?" CHARLES: "When the nightmares started." He pours some Scotch in a glass. CHARLES: "Have you come here to kill me, Benjamin?" BEN: "We both know I can't do that." CHARLES: "Then why are you here?" BEN: "I'm here, Charles, because you murdered my daughter." CHARLES: "Don't stand there looking at me with those horrible eyes of yours and lay the blame for the death of that poor girl on me, when we both know very well that I didn't murder her at all, Benjamin.
